When Deus Marois and his sons opened their Worcester, Mass. sand and gravel
business in 1919, they planned for the future and dreamed success. Through
hard work and perseverance the business grew. Marois Brothers Company, under
Chief Executive Officer and Treasurer Ralph D. Marois, began acquiring
additional trucks and equipment and doing contract work for larger developers in
the specialty of industrial and commercial site development.
In the 1930's one of the company's first contracts was assisting in the
construction of the aqueduct which ran from the Quabbin Reservoir to Boston.
The Fledgling company was hired as a sub-contractor to remove rocks from the
shafts, haul cement, and prepare roads for surfacing. The job was
challenging to Deus and his sons, but they persevered. Success at this
project led to other bigger jobs. What they had only dreamed about now
became a reality.
