Washington Street (Route 1) Improvement Project
Location: Plainville, MA
The project involved roadway modifications along Washington Street (Route 1) between Taunton Street (Route 152) and the interchange with Interstate 495 in the Town of Plainville, MA. It was necessitated due to the construction of the Plainridge Park Casino along Route 1 in Plainville, MA.
Approximately a mile of road work was improved via pavement milling and overlay, full depth widening and the relocation or installation of four separate traffic signals. Overlay and guardrail work was done along Route 152 as well as on both on and off ramps from 495 unto Route 1. Marois Brothers, Inc. personnel worked closely with representatives on MassDOT District 5 to complete the project in a safe manner while maintaining smooth traffic flow through the area. The project was completed on time and in time for the opening of the Plainridge Park Casino project.
